Answers to trivia questions (2nd edition)

1.) Who was the first wrestler to win three NCAA titles?
Answer: Earl McCready, OSU, 1928-30 (also first foreign-born, Canada)
2.) Where and when was the first NCAA Wrestling Tournament held?
Answer: Iowa State University in 1928. There were 49 wrestlers competing on two mats. The tickets were $1.50 (50 cents for students) per session, with all session reserved seats costing $3.00. The first & second place finishers automatically qualified for the Olympic Trials.
3.) The Wrestling Hall of Fame opened its doors for the first time in what city, state, and year? Answer: Stillwater, OK in 1974
4.) In what year did the U.S. win all the gold medals in wrestling in the Olympic games?
Answer: In 1904, the Americans were the only team entered in the sport that year!!
